Wanda Jean Toler Reynolds, 96, of Corydon died Friday, September 27, 2024, at Harrison Springs Health Campus near Corydon. She was born August 5, 1928, in Harrison County, Indiana, to the late Herschel and Glennie Wolfe Toler.
Wanda had a true love of God and showed that at the early age of fifteen, when she and her sister, Verdess, traveled and sang while riding on a Greyhound Bus. They ministered to others with their songs for two years. Wanda eventually continued to spread her testimony when she married Rev. Kenneth Reynolds on May 8, 1948, and they immediately started pastoring for many years in churches throughout Indiana and Kentucky. As a pastor’s wife, she played the piano and organ at pastorate churches and revivals, taught teen Sunday school classes, was missionary president many years, worked at children, youth and adult camps every summer at Fern Creek in Louisville, Kentucky, was PTA president at Owensboro Public Elementary School for five years and most recently was a member of New Shiloh Pilgrim Holiness Church near Corydon.
Wanda took in laundry, sold vegetables and eggs door to door, opened and ran a lady’s dress and shoe store in Corydon and worked part time in M. D. Reynolds Western Store.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. Kenneth C. Reynolds; her brother, Rev. Carman L. Toler; and her sister, Verdess Modell Hammel.
Survivors include her son, Marvin Dale Reynolds (Julie); her daughters, Leah Dianne Wininger (Frank) and Debbie Jean Bates; her grandchildren, LaShawnda Speck, LaCinda Glover (Brian), Ryan Dale Reynolds, Regina Ann Plummer (Tony), Renden Shane Reynolds (Megan), Natalie Jean Carlotta, Natasha Lynn Bates, and Nicole Crystal Fischer (Nathaniel); and 20 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Rev. Danny Goodman and Rev. Mark Arnett will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Grayden Glover, Cova Bates, Christian Bates, Isaac Thornton, Austin Reynolds, Tyler Reynolds, Logan Reynolds, and Hunter Speck.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to New Shiloh Pilgrim Holiness Church for the new bell belfry.
