Sandra Fegenbush

Sandra Elaine Bowman Fegenbush, age 82, of Irvington, KY, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at her home.

She was born on November 11, 1943, in Nashville, TN, daughter of the late Edward Isaac Bowman and Johnnie T. Bowman. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nadia Mitchell; and brother-in-law, Earl T. Mitchell.

Sandra was always actively involved in her community. Whether it was serving as an EMT at Breck Central or Irvington EMS, a firefighter through the Irvington Fire Department, a bank teller at First State Bank, or working in engineering at Southern Bell, she was constantly serving other people. She was a member of the Irvington Baptist Church and loved to teach classes and volunteer whenever she could. She loved the Lord and showed that through her actions every day; there was no doubt about where her heart was. Sandy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert William “Bob” Fegenbush; daughter, Leslie E. (Chris) Smith; 2 grandchildren, Nathan and Nicholas Smith; brother, Marion Randall (Judy) Bowman; and a community that loved her dearly.

Following her wishes, cremation has been chosen by the family and Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. No services will be held at this time.
