Delbert Woods

Delbert Woods, age 88, of Webster, KY, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in Elizabethtown, KY. 

He was born on September 28, 1937, in Clifton Mills, KY, son of the late Sophie Taylor Woods and Please Woods. Along with his parents, he is proceeded in death by his loving wife, Lillian Marlene Herbst Woods of 55 years, four sisters, and two brothers. 

Delbert was a hard worker and dedicated many years to construction labor. He is known for his character, always trying to make those he loved smile and laugh. He was a “jokester”, finding the light in difficult situations. Alongside his vibrant personality, Delbert was an avid outdoorsman or a country boy, who loved to travel, fish and hunt. Some of his favorite catches were catfish, deer, squirrels, pheasants, and rabbits. He enjoyed visiting Tennessee. Where he would see moose and bears, He loved visiting the beach, where he would collect seashells and starfish. He valued the small things in life, such as spending time with those who called him “Pepaw”, the beaming sun, the sand, and the open air, things most people took for granted. Above all else, the love he shared with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was unmatched.  

He is survived by his children, Suzanna Hardesty, of Guston, KY, Janie (Tony) Rone, of Webster, Del (Laura) Woods, of Custer, KY, Betty (David) Duff, of Fredericksburg, IN, and Cathy (Dennis) Hansard, of Georgia; grandchildren, Delbert, Shannon, Crystal, Timothydel, Julianne, and Johnny; and great grandchildren, Harley, Serenity, Lillian, Michael, Ian, Savannah, Wrenley, and Emberlyn. 

Visitation will be held in the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 3:00P.M. EDT. to 8:00P.M. EDT. and will continue on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 9:00A.M. EDT. until the time of the service. 

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 1:00P.M. EDT, with Bro. Barry Darnall officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Grove Cemetery (55 Ammons Ln, Guston, KY 40142)
