Verna Elizabeth (Embrey) Biddle

Mrs. Verna Elizabeth (Embrey) Biddle, age 88, of Guston, KY, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY.  Mrs. Biddle was born February 25, 1935, the daughter of Carl Benjamin and Minnie Eva (Hendrix) Embrey.  She was a longtime member of Ekron Baptist Church.  Verna’s greatest love was her family.  She was a true matriarch and the most loving wife, mom, and granny that one could ever ask for.

     Mrs. Biddle was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 64 years, Herbert Elroy Biddle; her son, Mike Biddle; her daughter, Gaye Robertson; her grandson, Jody Smith; and several brothers and sisters.  She is survived by two daughters, Terri Susan Roberts and her husband, Larry, and Eva Jane Harris and her husband, Harold; her daughter-in-law, Jonell Biddle Babb; her brother, Fred Embrey and his wife, Dottie; her sister, Judy Hubbard and her husband, Bobby; her brother-in-law, Luther Powers; her sister-in-law, Doris Jean Embrey; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren;  her great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

     A celebration of Verna’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Ekron Baptist Church, with Revs. Tom Curry and Tom Bridge officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, and at the church from 1:30 PM until the time of service on Sunday.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Ekron Baptist Church Youth Fund.
