Mr. Steven Robert “PeeWee” Pappas, age 74, of Pikeville, KY, formerly of Brandenburg, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Pikeville Medical Center. Mr. Pappas was born on June 13, 1950, the son of Harry E. Pappas and Henrietta Phelps Spencer.
Steven was a longtime employee of Meade County Solid Waste and Recycle from which he retired. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Karen Holden; his brother, Rudy Pappas; and his brother-in-law, Raymond Lamar “Buddy” Holden. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Wanita Marie Pappas; two children, Steven William Pappas and Melissa Marie Lawson and her husband, John; two grandchildren, Jay and Katherine Lawson; two brothers, Ellis and Donnie Pappas; his sister, Judy Gulish; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Steven’s brother, Ellis officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Buck Grove Cemetery. Public visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, and from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday.
