John Thomas Durbin

Mr. John Thomas Durbin, age 91, of Guston, KY, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY. John was born on December 14, 1934, the son of John Arvin and Thelma Victoria (Basham) Durbin.

John greatest attribute was his faith and trust in his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church since April of 1958. John enjoyed the outdoors. He loved tinkering with his lawnmowers, gardening, and fishing, but loved being around and visiting people. He was a true blessing and found great joy in being able to bless others.

John was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Lottie Frances Durbin; two sons, John and Keith Durbin; his grandson, Jeremy Scott Embry; four brothers, Billy, Albert, Phillip, and Damon Durbin; and his sister, Wilda Rush. He is survived by his daughters, Pam Howard, Pattie (Eddie) Embry, Cindy (Alex) Deniz, and Ruth Gail (Kevin) Mills, eight grandchildren, Mark, Jon, and Nick Howard, Zachary (Katlyn) Mills, Kaley Mills (Nick Michal), Emily (Brandun) Smith, Amanda (Jeremy) Limburg, and Joe (Sandy) Deniz; his step granddaughter, Danielle (David) Reece; eight great grandchildren and one on the way; five brothers, Wade, Henry, Jimmy, Bobby, and Jerry Durbin; two sisters, Minnie Margaret Wright, and Annette Green; and his special friend, Stella Cravens.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Salem Baptist Church, with Rev. Garry Hicks, and John’s son-in-law, Pastor Kevin Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
