Ms. Sherrell Lee (Morris) Whobrey, age 79, of Corydon, IN, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Harrison Springs Health Campus. Sherrell was born on January 24, 1947, the daughter of Richard and Edna (Dunlavy) Morris.

Sherrell was a woman of deep faith and gentle spirit, who lived her life with devotion to her Lord and to all those fortunate enough to be in her presence. Rooted in the fellowship of New Brandenburg Baptist Church in Brandenburg, Kentucky, she carried her faith as both a compass and a comfort throughout all the seasons of her life.

Above all else, Sherrell treasured her family. She was a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother, and a beloved great-grandmother whose love knew no bounds. Her greatest joy came from gathering those she loved close, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the unmistakable sense that you were always welcome and always cherished.

Sherrell embraced life's pleasures with an infectious enthusiasm. She delighted in evenings of Bingo and the excitement of the casino, and she found peace and joy along the water's edge while fishing. At the table, she was a formidable and spirited Rummikub player — a competitor who made every game a cherished occasion. Music was woven into the fabric of her days, and her love of song brought melody and lightness to all who were near.

Sherrell was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Edna (Dunlavy) Morris; her husband, James M. Whobrey; her daughter, Shauna L. Davis; and her sister, Lynn Doolittle. Left to cherish her memory are her five children, James P. Wynn, of Brandenburg, KY, Richard (Robbin) Wynn, of Beech Grove, IN, Melissa Wynn, of West Liberty, OH, Dawn (Brian) Sellers, of Guston, KY, and Shannon (Robert) Anderson, of French Lick, IN; 10 grandchildren, Danny Torres, Daniel (Monica) Engle, Christine (Brandon) Smith, Robyn Engle, Brittany Sellers, Kaylee (Caleb) Overstreet, Brian Sellers, Jacie Wynn, Riley Wynn and Heather Armstrong; and 10 great grandchildren, Cora, Grayson, Danica, JP, James, Emily, Opie, Isabelle, Conan and Austin.

Sherrell’s life was filled with love, friendship, laughter, and the little joys that made each day special. She will be remembered for the happiness she found in being surrounded by those she loved and for the countless memories she leaves behind. She may be gone from our sight, but she will forever remain in our hearts.

Forever loved, deeply missed and never forgotten.

In honoring Sherrell’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation. A celebration of Sherrell’s life will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society. Hager Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
