Shelia Darlene Justice

Shelia “Darlene” Justice, age 68, of Washington, IN, formerly of Battletown, KY, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 22, 1955, in Battletown, KY, daughter of the late Carlisle “Dudge” Humphrey and Rena Lou Allen Humphrey. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, James “Winkie” Justice.

Darlene worked as a certified pharmacy technician at WalMart for over 30 years. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, flowers, watching cows, and swimming with her grandkids. Of all the titles she had, Mamaw was her favorite. Her grandchildren gave her strength during the rough times, and laughter and joy all of the time. She loved lilies, pearls, and all things purple. Darlene had a genuine heart and showed it through her work and daily actions. She was dedicated to anything she pursued, she fought hard, and she did everything with love. She took care of everybody she met, including her husband until his passing, and her family says she was just like glue; she held everything together. Through all she endured, she remained positive and always met you with a smile. She was a devoted wife, mom, mamaw, and friend.

She is survived by her children, Joseph “Joey” Justice and Andrea “Andi” (Timothy) Strange of Washington, IN; and grandchildren, Cole Levi Strange and Eli Colt Strange of Washington, IN.

Visitation will be held at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. EDT and after 11:00 A.M. EDT on Sunday.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of the funeral home on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. EDT with Rev. Stewart Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in Cap Anderson cemetery next to her husband.
