Shelby Earl Poole

Shelby Earl Poole, age 85, of Hardinsburg, KY, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital.                                

He was born on May 25, 1938 in Glen Dean, KY, son of the late Jesse Earl Poole and Elsie Clyde Decker. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Earl Poole; sister, Brenda Swink; and two brothers, Buren Poole and Gene Poole.

Shelby proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Markab as a Machinist Mate Second Class. Once he left the Navy, he began farming, which he enjoyed. What he was most proud of, though, was his family. He was a dedicated father, brother, grandfather, and friend.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra F. Poole of Brandenburg, KY; granddaughter, Natasha Poole; brothers, Wayne (Margaret Ann) Poole of Brandenburg and Danny (Shirley) Poole of McQuady, KY; and sister-in-law, Thelma Poole of Irvington, KY.

Visitation will be held at the Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 3:00- 5:00 P.M. EDT. 

Funeral Services will be held from the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 5:00 P.M. EDT. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central at a later date.
