Richard Givan, 48, of Vine Grove, KY (Meade County) passed away suddenly on Monday, April 8, 2024.

Sergeant Richard Givan, badge number 708, dedicated many years to the Ekron Fire and Rescue Department as a volunteer. His bravery and commitment to helping others were unparalleled. Richard's passion for mentorship and leadership extended beyond his role as a firefighter; he was also a beloved troop leader for the Boy Scouts.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Rickey Givan.

He is survived by one son, Ryan Givan; his mother, Teresa Cotton; one sister, Jamie Givan; a niece, Nik Gary; a nephew, William "Billy" Gary; eight great-nieces and nephews, Anna, Minnie, Remy, Penelope, Piper, Carrie, Willow, Oakley. Beyond his immediate family, Richard will be deeply missed by his extended family of firefighter brothers and sisters, as well as a multitude of friends.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Saturday, April 13, 2024 and from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.

Funeral services for Mr. Givan will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.
