Mrs. Mona Rhea Hardesty, age 67, of Guston, KY, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY. Mona was born on September 29, 1957, the daughter of David Lloyd and Ruby Rhea (Goins) Dupin.
Mona was a former member of the Irvington Homemakers. She enjoyed working with all different types of crafts but she particularly loved sewing doll clothes. She was also an excellent singer and was known to sing at Goldie’s Best Little Opryhouse in Owensboro, KY, back in the 80’s and 90’s. Mona also made time to can her vegetables ensuring that she had plenty of green beans to send to her son, Travis.
Mona was preceded in death by her parents and her son, TSgt Michael Keith Hardesty. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Michael Ray Hardesty; her son, Brian Travis Hardesty; three grandchildren, Haley Hardesty (Xavier) Miller, Brock (Allyssa) Hardesty and Thomas Newman; one great grandbaby on the way; nine siblings, David Dupin, Karen Dupin Otero, Wilbur Dupin, Denise Dupin Mattingly, Victoria Smith, Cynthia Gonzalez, Lisa Taylor, Christopher Ritchie and Leslie Rose Ritchie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the chapel of Hager Funeral Home with Father Ben Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Irvington, KY. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the time of service. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
