Joyce Ann (Collins) Hayse, 100, of Irvington, KY, passed away peacefully at her home on July 23, 2026. Born March 23, 1926, in Van Lear, KY, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm Washington Collins, Sr. and Anna Lou (Smith) Collins.
As a teenager, Joyce moved with her family to Clarkson, KY, where she later met the man who would become her husband, Joseph Robert “Bob” Hayse. They married on November 15, 1945, and together built a loving home for their children. They enjoyed almost 62 years of marriage until his death in 2007. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Before beginning her career in education, Joyce worked alongside her husband in their poultry and cream business for more than twenty years. She later spent over two decades serving the Breckinridge County School District as a Head Start educator and preschool teacher.
Joyce is survived by her children: Bobby Joe (Joni) Hayse of Mitchell, IN; Johnny Lee (Wilma) Hayse of Hardinsburg, KY; and Susan Ann Hayse (David) Myers of Taylor Mill, KY; along with her daughter-in-law, Brenda Carter of Irvington.
She is lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren: James Robert Hayse, Jr. and Jerry Lee Hayse, both of Irvington; Jay Collier Hayse of Machesney Park, IL; Joseph Ryan Hayse of Louisville, KY; Hayley Ann Myers (Justin) Roberts and Collin David Hayse (Kari) Myers both of Union, KY.
Her great-grandchildren- Camilla Joy Roberts, Cecelia James Roberts, Dean Thomas Roberts, Henry Joseph Myers, and Sophie Jean Myers- were among her greatest joys.
In addition to her husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her son, James Robert Hayse, Sr.; a grandson, Robert Edward Jackson IV; her three sisters, Wootsie Conley, Lockie Plass, and Sophie Lambert; and one brother, M.W. Collins, Jr.
A faithful member of Irvington Baptist Church, Joyce lived her life with strength, faith, and a generous heart. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
