John Henry Whetstone

John Henry Whetstone was born February 4, 1943, in Nappanee, Indiana, to Amos and Magdalena (Borkholder) Whetstone, died peacefully in his home, Irvington, Kentucky, on June 25, 2025, age 82 years, 4 months, 21 days.

On September 22, 1966, he married Wilma Hostetler, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters and two sons, LeAnna (Willie) Detweiler, Irvington, KY, Lorene Byler, Irvington, KY, Susan (Jake) Peachey, Wallingford, Ky, Victor (Miriam) Whetstone, Webster, KY, Simon (Anna Mae)  Whetstone, Guthrie, KY, 31 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, one sister, two brothers and two sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Morris Whetstone, one granddaughter, Linda Peachey, three brothers, one sister, one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law.

John greatly enjoyed visiting with customers at Dutch Heritage Furniture and Bakery which he co-owned for almost twenty years. He loved being with family and traveling. John took a keen interest in other people’s lives and had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

           Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 9:00 A.M. EDT at the Amish Community Center (909 Dents Bridge Rd. Irvington, KY 40146) with John Paul Raber. Interment will follow at Whipporwill Valley Cemetery with Mervin Yoder, Glen Mullet, Joe Whetstone, Davey Whetstone, John Wayne Whetstone, and James Whetstone serving as pallbearers.
