Jeffrey "FROG" Greer

Jeff “Frog” Greer, age 61, of Brandenburg, KY passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

He was born on March 8, 1964, in Battletown, KY, son of the late Mary and Maurice “Thumb” Greer. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, William Jeffrey Greer.

Frog was a 1982 graduate of Meade County High School where he was a proud member of the Greenwave football team. He then graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1987 where he earned his BBA in Marketing.

Frog served in many positions to help improve and give back to the community that he so greatly loved. He was the owner of Greer Insurance (1990 - Present); served on the Meade County School Board of Education (1993-2006); a Kentucky State Representative for District 27 (2006-2019); former Chairman of the Banking and Insurance Committee for the Kentucky House of Representatives; member and former Director of Independent Insurance Agents of Kentucky; member and Former Director of the Meade County Chamber of Commerce; member of the Rotary Club; and member of Brandenburg United Methodist Church.

Frog was honored to serve Meade County and worked hard on behalf of his community. Some of his proudest accomplishments include new road and infrastructure projects like Hwy 313, and his influential role in raising Kentucky’s “dropout age” to 18 years old. As a result of his many achievements and contributions, he was recently inducted into the Meade County Alumni Hall of Fame on June 7th, 2025.

He was known and loved by many. He liked to have fun, enjoyed all sports, playing games, socializing, and especially billiards with many teams including “Frog’s Dogs”. 

He is survived by his loving children, Jay B (Emily) Greer and Sarah Greer; sisters, Sandy (Doug) Howard and Karen (Lamar) Hager; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 at the David T. Wilson Elementary School (1075 Old Ekron Rd, Brandenburg, KY 40108) from 12-8:00 P.M.  Visitation will continue on Saturday, after 10:00 A.M. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 12:00 Noon from the David T. Wilson Elementary School (1075 Old Ekron Rd, Brandenburg, KY 40108), with Pastor Barrett Howard officiating, burial will follow in Cap Anderson cemetery.
