Christine Ramsey

Christine “Tean” Ramsey, age 95, of Brandenburg, KY passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, joining her husband, Egbert Ramsey, in the arms of the Lord. 

She was born August 28, 1929 to the late Wilbur and Georgia Hoskinson, in Custer, KY. Along with her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her children, Michael David Ramsey and Rachel Alderman; as well as, two sisters, Kathleen Alexander and Betty Carden. 

Christine graduated from Irvington High School in 1947 and taught for three years before marrying Egbert Ramsey in 1948. They moved to Brandenburg in 1954, where they opened a Dairy Freeze franchise that became the Brandenburg Freezette. Christine supported Egbert’s Little League coaching, and after his death in 1965, she earned her teaching certificate while raising three children. She returned to teaching in 1971, retiring in 1995. Christine also pursued higher education, achieving multiple teaching certifications.

A lifelong Methodist, Christine was deeply involved in the Brandenburg United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday school, volunteering for Red Cross blood drives, and supporting the church in various ways. She and her husband were well-loved in the community, and their contributions, particularly Egbert's coaching and the naming of Ramsey Field, left a lasting legacy in Brandenburg. After retiring, Christine traveled and worked at the Grand Canyon.

Christine is survived by her son Joel ‘Joe’ Ramsey of Brandenburg, KY; her grandchildren, Donald ‘Tom’ Wells, Chris Percy and Natalie Suffoletta, as well as 5 great-grandchildren, Megan (Tyler Bush) Peray, Nicolas (Crystal) Percy, Jordyn Wells, Christian Suffoletta and Vanessa Ramsey.  

Visitation will be held Monday, February 24 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at the Brandenburg United Methodist Church (215 W. Broadway, Brandenburg, KY 40108).

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM at the Brandenburg United Methodist Church. Rev. Janet Carden will be officiating, along with Rev. Lynn Beach. Burial will follow in Custer Cemetery, Irvington, KY.
