Cathy Hobbs, age 64, of Flaherty, KY, passed away on Tuesday, January 16th, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones.
Cathy was born on Thursday, June 1, 1959 in Oahu, Hawaii to Billy and Ramona Lovall. She is preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Grace Ann, son-in-law Jack LaTondress, and cousin Chet Haney.
Cathy was previously employed by Flaherty Schools for over 20 years where she devoted her life to “her kids”. Her true passion in the classroom was seeing her special needs students excel in and out of school. Upon retirement, she devoted her time to her greatest joy, her grandchildren. From attending every event, driving the “Gammy Bus”, or playing “Gammy-Claus” at Christmas she was their number one supporter. Born in Hawaii, Cathy had a deep love for the ocean. She felt most at peace on the shoreline. She was a member of St Martin of Tour’s Catholic Church. She was integral in the implementation of the St. Martin’s Infant Memorial, taught religious education, and was an active member of the Bereavement Committee. Although she always claimed to be a city girl, the numerous meals hauled to the field, time in the tobacco patch, and hours gardening and canning proved she was a country girl at heart. She was completely devoted to her entire family, best friend and confidant to her children and siblings, and loving farmwife to her husband.
She is survived by her loving husband, Eddie Hobbs; children, Heather (Luke) Pickering, Ray (Nancy) Hobbs, Noel (Trevor) Pack, and Callie Hobbs all of Flaherty; siblings, Rodney (Wilma) Lovall, Trina Lovall, and Gina (Gary) Hartwich; grandchildren, Vance Pickering, Amelia & Colette LaTondress, Mason Raikes, Jake & Anna Hobbs, and Wade & Boone Pack; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21st and from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Monday, January 22nd at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY. A prayer service will be held at 6:00pm Sunday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Fr. Jeff Hopper will be held Monday, January 22, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Flaherty, KY. Burial will follow in the St. Martin’s Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in form of donations to the St. Martin of Tours Infant Memorial Fund.
