Carl R. Bland

Carl R. Bland, age 100 formerly of McQuady, KY, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023 in Louisville, KY.

He was born on May 2, 1923 in McQuady, KY, son of the late Walter Bland & Martha Delila Jackson Bland.  Along with his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife of 75 years, Avah Lois Pile; siblings, Jennie Lee Hinton, Lucille Mattingly, Ruby Neff, Sammy Bland, Bernard Bland, Robert Bland, J.W. Bland, Johnny Bland, Luke Bland, Morris “Marcy” Bland, Noel Bland, and Kelly Bland.

Carl was a member of Epiphany United Methodist Church in Louisville.  Retired from Reliance Universal in Louisville.  He loved to hunt and fish, his children, and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his three children, Lonnie R. (Mary) Bland of Okolona, KY, Rodney H. (Cherrie) Bland of LaGrange, KY, and Holly L. (Kevin) Combs of Louisville; five grandchildren, Autumn, Rodney, Jordan, Abigail, and Tyler; eight great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Iseabail, Rodney III, Leonard, Roxanna, Jules, Skyler, and Lachlan.

Visitation will be held at the Alexander Funeral Home on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 4-8:00 P.M. EST. and after 9:00 A.M. on Friday, January 5, 2024.

Funeral Services will be held at the Alexander Funeral Home on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. EST.  Burial will follow next to his wife in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery, McQuady, KY.
