Angela Carol (Barr) Thissen

Mrs. Angela Carol Barr-Thissen, age 70, of Rineyville, KY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY, surrounded by her family.  Angela was born October 27, 1953, the daughter of James Edwin and Mary Geraldine (Rhodes) Barr, who both preceded her in death.  She spent the early years of her life in Meade County before moving to Oviedo, FL in 1993.  Angela spent 26 years in Florida, retiring as a Program Analyst for the Department of the Army, with PEO STRI,  and was a longtime member of the Army Aviation Association of America.  Angela returned to Kentucky with her husband in 2019, settling in Rineyville.  She loved playing golf, but mostly enjoyed spending time and making memories with her family.

      Angela is survived by her loving husband, Bryan Smith; two sons, Craig (Christina) Thissen and Chad (Tiffany) Thissen; two step children, Monika Smith and Alton (Ashlyn) Smith; three grandchildren, Elliot, Dominic, and Demi; four brothers, Mickey (Sandie) Barr, Glenn (Barbara) Barr, Greg (Melinda) Barr, and Donnie (Jennifer) Barr; two sisters, Susie Barr, and Cindy (Harold) Stith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

      A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 12, 2024, at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, with Rev. George Illakkal officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, and at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of mass on Friday.  A vigil service will be held at 6:00 PM at the funeral home on Thursday evening.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Lyme Disease Foundation; or to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America.
