Adrian Leo Basham, age 77, of Irvington, KY, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at home with his family by his side.
He was born on April 22, 1946, in Irvington, KY, son of the late Morris Eugene Basham and Virginia Agnes Dowell Basham.
Adrian was a 1964 graduate of Irvington High School and a proud United States Air Force veteran. He worked for IMI as a concrete truck driver until his retirement in 2017, and then went on to work for Breckinridge County Schools as a bus driver until his retirement in 2024. He loved the summertime and doing anything outdoors, especially mowing. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering for the Green Bay Packers and the UK Wildcats; if he wasn’t bleeding red, he was definitely bleeding blue. Adrian was a man of many talents, and there was nothing he couldn’t do. He was active and well-loved in his community and a faithful member of the Irvington Baptist Church. He was strong, kind, and generous. He loved the Lord with all he had and fought the good fight. The most important thing in his life was his family, especially his grandkids. He adored them more than anything in the world and thought they hung the moon and stars. He was a dedicated husband, dad, “Pap,” and friend to all, and will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, JoAnn Dowell Basham of Irvington; children, Mellanie (Darrell) Sutton of Maysville, KY and Chris Basham of Irvington; siblings, Brenda (Charley) Nottingham, Howard Basham, and Randall “Buzz” (Dianne) Basham; grandchildren, Lee (Jennifer) Sutton, Michael (Taylor) Sutton, Kinley Basham, and Kaelyn Basham; and great-grandchildren, Jaxon Sutton, Everleigh Sutton, and Charlotte Sutton.
Visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home (509 Spring Street, Irvington, KY 40146) on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 3-8:00 P.M. EDT and will continue on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. EDT with Bro. Tim Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.
