Velda “Joann” Bennett, age 86, of Louisville, KY, passed away on August 19, 2024 at Indian Creek Nursing Home.
She was born on November 10, 1937 in Globe, KY to the late James Crisp and Laura Viers Crisp. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond “Doogie” Lewis Bennett; eight sisters, and one brother.
Joann was Baptist by faith. She was a home maker most of her life and loved taking care of her family. Her husband, children and all her grandchildren were the light of her life. Joann was very artistic gal and enjoyed drawing.
She is survived by her children, David (Dottie) Brewer of Battletown, KY, Vicky (Bruce) Ashmore of Payneville, KY, and Matthew “Matt” Bennett of Cincinnati, OH; step- children, Lisa (Kenny) Andrake of Brandenburg, KY and Jeff Bennett of Brandenburg, KY; sister, Doris Rhodes of Louisville, KY; brother, Johnny Crisp of Louisville, KY; sister-in-laws Lora Carson and Dell Crawford; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and three great-great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Bruington- Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 10:00 A.M to 2:00 P.M.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. from the Chapel of the Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Ford officiating with burial to follow in the Bogard Greer Cemetery in Brandenburg, KY.
