Tony Lamar Allen, 86, died Monday, May 18, 2026, after a five week battle with cancer at Baptist Health in Elizabethtown, KY.

He was born on August 24, 1939, in Louisville, KY, son of the late Lamar Allen and Lorraine Mercer Allen. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Nick Allen.

Tony was a native of Meade County and was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. After graduating from Meade Co. High School, he attended Centre College and the University of Kentucky. He worked for Western Electric, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies and got to travel all over the state. He was an avid bowler who attended many bowling tournaments, he enjoyed watching NASCAR, and he loved mowing, weedeating, and yard work. Tony was a big enthusiast for the University of Kentucky; he was a faithful follower of the Cats and attended or listened to every game, whether it was football or basketball. Above all else, he loved his community and the fellowship it brought him. He was proud of his roots, and they kept him grounded in the same beautiful house overlooking the river throughout his childhood and married life. He was president of the Meade Co. Alumi Association, taught Sunday School for the mixed adult class for 52 years, and was a deacon at First Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and that was evident in the way he loved others. Tony was a devoted husband, dad, Papaw, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know him.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Duvall Allen; a son, Gus Allen, and daughter-in-law, Amy Allen; 2 grandchildren, Griffin and Molly Allen; a sister, Sally Allen (Don) Crenshaw; sister-in-law, Linda Allen; brother-in-law, Boyce Duvall; 2 nieces; and 1 nephew.

Visitation will be held at the Bruington Jenkins Sturgeon Funeral Home on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. It will continue Friday, May 22, 2026, from 9:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Brandenburg.

Funeral Services will be held from the chapel of the First Baptist Church (149 Lawrence St, Brandenburg, KY 40108) on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Buck Grove Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the First Baptist Church to assist with securing a church sign.
