Senea Florence Brown

Senea Florence Gumm Brown, age 82, of Irvington, KY, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY.

She was born on April 5, 1942, in Owsley County, KY, daughter of the late Fred Gumm and Hester Conrad Gumm. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 ½ years, Harlin James Brown; sons, Jimmy and Ryan Scott Brown; brothers, Denver and Virgil Gumm; sister, Shirley Thompson; and great-granddaughter, Piper Rose Brown.

Senea, lovingly called the “Community Mamaw”, was a force to be reckoned with. She was the owner and operator of the Harned Mini Mall and Brown’s Auction House, and was a member of Dry Valley Baptist Church. She loved to dance and spend time with her friends and family. She enjoyed drinking coffee and sharing stories with the people she cared about. Senea had a massive heart and was a friend to all. She was a loving, caring “Firecracker”, and touched so many lives with her kindness and generosity. She was a devoted mom, mamaw, great-maw, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her.

She is survived by her children, Ronnie (Brenda) Brown of Cloverport, KY, and Sissy Brown of Irvington; grandchildren, James Joel (Astara) Brown, Scott Wayne (Roxy) Brown, Dustin Ray (Jamie) Brown, Ronald Goatley, Jeremy Brown, Joshua (Shana) Black, Katlynn (Minnis) Cyrus, Jaslynn Washer, Kimberly “Lou Lou” Cundiff, Amanda (Demetrius) Brooks, Tasha Ferry, and Frankie Dowell; brother, Ricky (Ruth) Gumm; and great-grandchildren, Damion, Serenity, Daxxin, Doobie, Paisley, Andrew, Preston, Tasean, Charity, Gabriel, Darrian (Mylah), Tay, Daraysha, Timothy, Curtis, Allen, Ciera, Jimmi, Kayden, Kayson, Kaylyn, Kaymin, Charlee, Adalyn, Alaia, Edward, and Everest, and Baby Brown and Baby Black on the way.

Visitation will be held at the Alexander Funeral Home (509 Spring Street, Irvington, KY 40146) on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 4-8:00 P.M. EDT and will continue Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. EDT with Bro. Josh Board and Bro. Danny Board officiating. Burial will follow in the Ephesus Cemetery in Harned, KY.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to assist the family with funeral expenses.
