Ronald Foushee

Ronald Leo Foushee, 76, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, surrounded by family, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He was born June 20, 1950, in Jefferson County, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his father, George “Jack” Foushee; his daughter-in-law, Carissa Mattingly Foushee; grandchildren, Michael Frances “Rance” and Addison Marie “Adie” Foushee.

Ron is survived by his wife of 54 years, Deborah Pike Foushee; sons, Michael Foushee (Laina) of Brandenburg; Timothy Foushee (Stacey Waldron) of Flaherty; daughter, Jo Ellen Foushee Scruggs (Casey) of Bowling Green, Kentucky; grandchildren, Elyse and Sarah Scruggs, and Jesse Foushee. He is also survived by his numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; his beloved Flaherty High School classmates; as well as his walking buddies, with whom he walked the hill many early mornings.

Ron was a life-long member of the Flaherty community and St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. He was a member of the last graduating class from Flaherty High School in 1969.

He married Deborah Pike, of Rineyville, on March 4, 1972, at St. Brigid Church in Vine Grove.

After being laid off from Brown and Williamson and then from Olin, Ron decided the most logical thing for him to do was to start his own business. He went to night school to learn appliance repair and started Foushee’s Appliance Repair in 1987. Ron retired from the business in 2020. By then, he was so trusted by everyone, he had keys or entry codes to half the buildings in the county.

Ron showed love with acts of service, usually fixing machinery or finding solutions to problems. He always showed up for his family whenever they needed him; he attended many performances for his granddaughters in Bowling Green, ripped up wet carpet in Brandenburg, and attended late night church softball double-headers, just to name a few examples.

Ron valued hard work and knowledge. He rarely made choices based on impulse (unless it involved chocolate), but instead, he valued the lessons of the past and always thought of the future and the life he wanted for his family. And he and Debbie built a beautiful life.

Visitation will be held at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett in Vine Grove on Tuesday, September 1st, from 4-8pm with prayers at 7pm. On Wednesday, visitation will be held from 9-10:30 am. at the funeral home. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church at 11am. Burial in St. Martin’s Cemetery to immediately follow.
