Rena Lou Humphrey, age 87 of Battletown, KY, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024 surrounded by family at Baptist Health Hardin Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY.
Rena Lou was born on August 26, 1936 to the late Paul Warren Allen and Mary Eleanor (Arnold) Allen.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, of 69 years, Carlisle “Dudge” Humphrey of Battletown, KY; son-in-law, James “Winkie” Justice, who was more of a “son” than a “son-in-law”.
She is also preceded in death by her 4 brothers, Alva Eugene “Buddy” Allen, James Lamar Allen, Robert Verland Allen, and Paul Warren Allen, Jr.; 8 sisters, Mary Mildred Adkisson, Neva Louise Greer, Beatrice Marie Hardesty, Loretta Mae “Lou” Jupin, Thelma Irene Hockman, Nina “Ruth” Humphrey, Anna Rita Benham, and Bonnie Jean Wardrip.
Rena Lou was a member of Cold Spring Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed spending time with family and close friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking for others. She also enjoyed Bowling, Bunco, Bingo, and playing Rook.
She is survived by her daughter, Shelia Darlene Justice of Washington, IN; grandchildren, Joseph “Joey” Justice and Andrea “Andi” (Timothy) Strange of Washington, IN; great-grandchildren, Cole Levi, and Eli Colt Strange of Washington, IN; one sister, Hellen “Patsy” Smith of Meade County, KY; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 4-8:00 P.M. and after 10:00 A.M. on Monday.
Funeral services will be held from the Bruington-Jenkins-Surgeon Funeral Home on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Stewart Skaggs officiating.
