Regina “Jean” Marie (Dages) Heibert, 83, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
She was born on February 25, 1940 in Louisville, KY, to the late Harry and Claudine (Wiser) Dages. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Heibert; and twelve siblings.
Jean married her lifelong sweetheart, the late Walter Lee Heibert, in 1957 and graduated from Ahrens High School in Louisville the same year. Throughout their 54 years together, Jean and her husband were stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, returned to Louisville, and eventually relocated to Brandenburg in 1974. She retired from the Meade County Health Department after 24 years of service. Jean was a devout Catholic, a talented seamstress, a master caramel maker, a friend to many, and the world’s best grandmother, known as “Memaw Chicken.”
Jean is survived by her loving children, Kimberly (Keith) Hager, Karen (Mack) McNeley, Dean (Angie) Heibert, and Rusty (Theresa) Heibert; sisters, Ann Wheat and Eleanor Druen; seventeen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many family members, friends, and her St. John’s Parish community.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home from 1:00PM-6:00PM. A rosary service being led by Lexie Lynch will begin at 6:00PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, February 19, 2024 at St. John the Apostle Church from 9:00AM-11:00AM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11:00 AM EST at St. John the Apostle Church in Brandenburg, KY with Father Randy Hubbard officiating.
