Planning & Zoning Votes To NOT Recommend Rezoning Of 313 Property

The Meade County Planning and Zoning committee voted on Tuesday to not recommend the rezoning of a piece of property at 313 and Garret Road in Ekron.

The committee held a special called meeting on the Meade County Fairgrounds Tuesday morning which garnered significant interest from the community after information was released regarding the push for an AI Data Center to be built in the county.

Over 150 people reportedly signed up to speak at the meeting, and there were even more than that in attendance. The meeting was initially scheduled to begin at 11:30 Tuesday morning but didn't start until well after noon and had to be moved to the even larger Farm Bureau Building on the Fairgrounds due to the amount of people who showed up.

Even in the larger facility, there was apparently standing room only as community members showed up to hear and voice their opinions on the controversial matter.

Meade County Planning and Zoning's Vote was unanimously against the rezoning; however, their vote only serves as a recommendation to Fiscal Court, who will have the ultimate say when they vote on the matter at their meeting Tuesday evening. That meeting is set to begin at 7:00pm at the Meade County Courthouse.
