Head on collision in Meade County results in multiple fatalities

According to law enforcement, on September 20 at 12:54 am, Kentucky State Police Post 4 was requested by the Meade County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a two-vehicle fatality collision on Old Mill Road (KY 1638) near LG&E Road.


Preliminary investigation indicates a black 2016 Nissan Pathfinder operated by Isaac Jenkins, 26, of Brandenburg, Kentucky, was traveling eastbound on Old Mill Road when, for reasons still under investigation, it crossed the center line and entered the westbound lane. The Nissan Pathfinder hit a silver 2016 Ford Fusion, head-on.


The operator of the Ford Fusion, Trenton Thomas, 26, of Brandenburg, Kentucky, and the passenger, Karlie Haycraft, 29, of Brandenburg, Kentucky, were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Meade County Coroner at 1:13 am.


Jenkins was transported by helicopter to University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries.


The collision remains under investigation by KSP Post 4 Detective Jesse Harp. KSP was assisted at the scene by Meade County Sheriff’s Office, Meade County EMS, Muldraugh Fire Department, Flaherty Fire Department, Muldraugh Police Department, KY 7 Air Methods and the Meade County Coroner’s Office.
