Patricia Hardesty Matthews “Trish”, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
She was born September 15, 1951, in Union Star, Kentucky to the late Stephen Hardesty and Georgia Mae Horton Hardesty. Along with her parents, Trish was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Robin; two brothers, Ronald and John Hardesty; infant brother, Stephen Hardesty; a half-sister, Eva; and two half-brothers, Rudolph and Joe Pat.
Trish was a life-long parishioner of St. John the Apostle church. She spent much of her time gardening and rooting for The University of Kentucky Wild Cats. Above all, Trish was a loving mother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her children, Rhonda (Mike) Resel of Taylorsville, and Gary (Stephanie) Matthews of Brandenburg; three grandchildren, Benjamin (Nicole) Matthews, Alexis Matthews, and Gracie Matthews; two great-grand-daughters, Blakeley Matthews and Hannah Rose Eden; step grandchildren, Alex Resel and Haley Resel, Dane (Courtney) Eden, Bret Howell and Eden Howell; sisters, Clarice Griffith, Judith (Joey) Fey, Brenda (Steve) Ross; half-siblings, Lavonia and Tom; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Trish will be Monday, January 29, 2024 from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home in Brandenburg. Visitation will continue at St. John the Apostle church on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 9:00 AM-11:00AM.
Funeral mass will be held at St. John the Apostle church, with Father Tuan Do officiating, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. George cemetery, next to her infant daughter.
