Hazel Hardesty

Hazel Mae Hardesty, age 82, of Union Star, KY, passed away on July 20, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. 

She was born on July 27, 1942, in Raywick, KY, daughter of the late Mary Alice Mattingly Lee and Spalding Abel Lee. Along with her parents Hazel was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Lee and sister, Faye Schum. 

Hazel was a member of St. Theresa Church, serving at the Parrish office for quite some time. She was a go getter, a person who took charge, leading her to her occupation as a Respiratory Therapist at Holdaway Durable Medical Equipment. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Hurschel Hardesty; children, Diana (Jeff) Cissell, and David (Angela) Buckel; step-children, Terry Hardesty, Barry (Tina) Hardesty, and Karen (James) Dean; sisters, Margaret Wihlon, Dorothy Carr, and Betty (Jimmy) Brown; sister-in-law, Lisa Lee; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; lifelong best friend, Shirley (Bill) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Bruington Jenkins Sturgeon Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. EDT with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. lead by Deacon Greg Beavin. Visitation will continue, Thursday, from St. Theresa Church in Payneville from 9-11:00 A.M. EDT

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Church (9245 Rhodelia Road Payneville, Ky. 40157) on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. EDT. with Father George Illikkal officiating, burial will follow in St. Theresa Cemetery.
