Harrison County Sheriff’s Department Investigating Fatal Shooting in Mauckport

On Thursday, July 2, at approximately 9:59 p.m., Harrison County 911 Dispatch received a 911 call from a male reporting an accidental gunshot at a residence on Hillcrest Drive in Mauckport, Harrison County, Indiana.

Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the residence and located an adult female with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 911 caller was identified as the victim’s husband.

Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputies, Detectives, and the Harrison County Coroner are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.

This investigation remains in its early stages. No additional information will be released at this time as investigators continue to gather facts and process evidence.
