Gary Douglas Matthews

Gary Douglas Matthews, age 75 of Garfield, KY passed away February 10, 2024 at Baptist Health Louisville. He was born in Louisville on July 27, 1948. Gary was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in Vietnam. He was a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Flaherty, KY. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Willie Matthews, his son Brandon Milburn and his brother Kevin Matthews.

Gary is survived by his wife Dawn Mingus Matthews of Garfield, KY

4 children - Lisa Hawke (Kevin) of Brandenburg, KY; Leslie McGinty (Jason) of Louisville, KY; Nicole Matthews and Gregory Milburn(Jennifer) of Garfield, KY

14 grandchildren - Jessa, Will, Emily, Caleb, Lauren, Aubrey, Everett, Veda, Chelsea, Ben, Eli, Alec, Elaina and Ethan

2 great grandchildren - Brielle and Wren

4 sisters - Jeanne Greenup of Paducah, KY; Karen Matthews, Beverly Downey and Heather Armstrong of Louisville, KY

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11 AM. Burial with military honors will be in the Locust Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, 3-7 PM and Friday after 8 AM. All times are central.
