Dwight Hardesty

Mr. Dwight Hardesty, age 93, of Louisville, KY, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Norton Audubon Hospital.  Mr. Hardesty was born on August 2, 1931, the son of Joseph Raymond and Florence Hull Hardesty.

Mr. Hardesty’s passion was cars.  He loved working on all cars, but especially older models and antiques.  He was a longtime member of the Kyana Region Antique Car Club. Mr. Hardesty also was the longtime owner and operator of the J.R. Hardesty Candy Company on Dixie Highway until December of 1986.

Mr. Hardesty was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Mabel; and his son, Billy.  He is survived by three children, Andy (Valerie) Hardesty, Florence (Joseph) Brummett, and Kathy (Jimbo) Hardesty; 10 grandchildren, Dara, Paige, Jeremy, and Travis Hardesty, Renee (Thomas) Goatley, Greg and Patrick (Devon) Allen, Adrienne (Curt) Bronson, Holly Rothman, and Zachary White; 9 great grandchildren, Jax, Jordan, Jaidyn, Carson, Taylor, Cheyanne, Maximus, Nico and Briella; his sister, Shirley O’Bryan; his nephew, Bernard (Pam) O’Bryan; and his great niece, Sarah O’Bryan.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with burial to follow in St. George Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, and from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the funeral home to aid the family with expenses.
