Dorothy Lee (Bennett) Jones

Dorothy Lee Bennett Jones, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the age of 94. 

She was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by her unwavering love for her family, her kindness toward others, and her strong Christian faith. She was the cornerstone of her family and the person so many looked to for love, wisdom, comfort, and strength.

She was also known for always looking her best. Her beautiful hair, makeup, carefully chosen clothes, and signature pearls were a reflection of the grace and elegance she carried throughout her life.

Her faith in the Lord was an important part of who she was. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of her Savior, the loving arms of her husband, and reunited with loved ones who went before her. She was a member of Cecilia Baptist Church and loved her church family and all of their continuous support.

Although her family will miss her more than words can express, they are grateful for the years of love, memories, laughter, lessons, and traditions she gave them. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched and through the generations of family she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vernon Lamar Jones, her parents, Clarence and Bertie Bennett, along with four brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie; her son, Lamar (Barb); her grandchildren, Austin (Stephany) Belcher, Heidi (Todd) Strausbaugh, Chelsea (Matt) Puckett, Aaron Prather, Alvyia Jones; her great-grandchildren, Devin (Destiny) Johnson, Matthew (Maddie) Puckett, Derrick (Hailie) Johnson, Katelynn Belcher and Grant Belcher; great-great grandchildren Riverlynn and Kinsley Johnson, and Maci and Dallas Puckett.  In addition, several nieces and nephews, plus her special friends who were like family.

A celebration of her life will be held with visitation on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY. 

Funeral Service for Ms. Jones will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the chapel of Chism Family Funeral Home, Vine Grove, KY.  Burial will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.
