Diane Marie O'Connell

Diane Marie O’Connell, age 82 of Brandenburg, KY went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in Louisville, KY.

She was born in St. Louis, MO on October 9, 1941, daughter of the late Margaret Driscoll.  Along with her mother, she was preceded in death by her children, Peggy O’Connell Wilson and Paul O’Connell.

Diane grew up in Shively, KY with some lifelong friends and was married to her childhood sweetheart Greg for over 63 years.  She loved their family fiercely and was known for her sharp wit and feistiness. She loved a good word puzzle and always had cookie stashes throughout the house so no grandkid would ever go without.  

She was a faithful member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Brandenburg.   She was a wonderful wife, a great mother, and a doting grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Greg O’Connell; children, Stephen O’Connell of Dallas, TX, Karen (Ericka) O’Connell of Louisville, KY and Patrick (Tina) O’Connell of Carmel, IN; son-in-law, Scott Wilson; grandchildren, Cameron, Alexander, Sienna, Garett, Norah, and Declan; and great-grandchildren, Lily, and Maddie.  

A memorial service will be held on December 29th at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Brandenburg, KY between 9:00-11:00 AM with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
