Caroline June (Powell) Yates

Mrs. Caroline Yates, age 80, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Louisville, KY on February 24, 1945.

      Caroline was a longtime member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.  She was known for her cake decorating and candy making skills, as well as her crafting and green thumb.  Caroline truly enjoyed being outdoors gardening and taking care of her beautiful flowers, as well as watching and taking care of her birds.  She had a strong work ethic and enjoyed the time she spent working at Doe Valley Key Market, Nora’s Hallmark and the Red Rooster.  Caroline’s biggest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

      Caroline was preceded in death by her loving husband, William J. Yates, Sr; her mother, Dorothy Adair; and her siblings, Joe Ann Stennett, Calvin Glen Adair, and Tammy Ramsey.  She is survived by three children, Angie (Bill) Bevill, Debbie (Greg) Allen, and William “Joe” (Karen) Yates, Jr.; five grandchildren, Todd (Nick Coleman) Allen, Cole (Erica) Bevill, Ben (Becky Thomas) Bevill, Tyler (Cassidy) Yates, and Trevor (Shelby) Yates; six great grandchildren, Rowland, Reagan, James, and Will Bevill, Hayden and Emory Yates; three brothers-in-law, Barry Ramsey, Claude Stennett, and Fairleigh (Alice) Yates; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

      A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 12, 2025, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St. George Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home from 9:30 AM until 1:45 PM on Monday.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or Hosparus of Central Kentucky.
