Bill Wood

Mr. Bill W. Wood, age 80, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown.  Bill was born on December 3, 1944, the son of Wayne and Nell Bow Wood.

      Bill was a longtime member of Ekron Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Trustee.  He was a member of the Brotherhood who would go to people in need and make repairs and fix various things that they were unable to do for themselves.  Bill also loved farming, quail hunting, and watching all of the classic Westerns.  His grandchildren brought him the greatest joy, and he loved watching them all in their various activities.

      Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 59 years, Carol; and two brothers, Bob and Tom Wood.  He is survived by his children, Rena Wood Hayes, and Billy Gavin Wood and his wife, Kim; seven grandchildren, Tanner and Hannah Hayes, and Gavin (Lauren), Tyler, Jax, Jase and Jaydee Wood; his great grandson, Hudson Wood; two sisters, Helen Wood Barr, and Regina Foushee; his sister-in-law, Faye Wood; three brothers-in-law, Harold (Mary) Moore, Neil (Pat) Moore, and Steve (Karen) Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews.

      Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Ekron Baptist Church, with Rev. Tom Curry officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be held at Hager Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, and at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday.  Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Ekron Baptist Church Building Fund.
