David Allen Schifler, age 62, of Irvington, KY, crossed the rainbow bridge on Saturday, May 23, 2026, and he’s thrilled.
He was born on September 22, 1963, in Elkin, NC. He was welcomed into Heaven by his mother, Carlene Agnes Schifler; fathers, Everett Ford Mathis and Fred Edward Schifler; brother, Ricky Lee Mathis; and his Granny Ruth, who had her arms wide open.
David was an enigma. He was full of immeasurable love and “pessimistic hope”; a realist, but a big dreamer. He was fiercely loyal to those he cared about, and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone and anything in need. David was the dark side of the moon, but his wife, Tanya, was his sun for 27 beautiful years. He loved music, especially CCR, Pink Floyd, and old country, but was a true gangster at heart. David was a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend to many, and he was loved more than he ever knew.
He is survived by his loving wife, Tanya Cornett Schifler; children, Isaac Schifler, Stephanie (Rafael) Negrón, Joshua Moses, and Daniel Schifler; sisters, Debra Bales and Christy Renee Schifler; grandchildren, Benjamin, Rylynn, Hayden, Kieran Alley, Javier Negrón, and Leeland Inman; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends that became family.
Following his wishes, cremation has been chosen by the family and Alexander Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Lincoln Trail Christian Church from 1:00-4:00 EDT.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
