Betty Burgess

Betty Lou Burgess, age 72 of Vine Grove, KY passed away on December 24, 2024 in Elizabethtown, KY.

She was born on August 15, 1952 in Irvington, KY daughter of the late Gerda Lorene Goins Carwile and Charles Verda Carwile. Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her children, James Louis Dupin and Jennifer Marie Richard; infant sister, Cari Lene Carwile; brothers, Charles Albert Carwile, Louis Franklin Carwile, and Charlie Gene Carwile; grandson, Cameron Dupin; great granddaughter, Jolondyn Wiley; and son-in-law, Ronald Shawn Richard.

Betty was a loving mother and grandmother. She worked as a receptionist and a customer service provider for her son’s company Robbie Lee Construction. Betty was an avid rock collector and loved hunting for rocks with her daughters.  She had a green thumb and loved to garden and tend to her plants.  She loved big, and loved deeply, her passions included her flowers, animals, puzzles, sudoku, dancing, singing, and her family.  She was a caring and loving sister, and her family will miss her deep laughs and fun loving personality.   

She is survived by her children, Robby Lee (Doris) Dupin of Vine Grove and Susan (Bruce) Lewis of Irvington; daughter-in-law, Dena Dupin; husband, Brian Burgess; sisters, Darlene (Danny) Crowe and Judy Fay Styles; brothers, William Albert Carwile, Denver Lynn (Brandy) Ammons, and Michael Cleveland Carwile; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Alexander Funeral Home on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 11:00-8:00 P.M. EST and Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 9-1:00 P.M. EST.

Funeral Services will be held at the Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington, KY on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. with Bro. Glen Cornett officiating.  Burial will be in Howe Valley Cemetery.
