With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alma Jean Greer, age 92 of Brandenburg, KY, who peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 5, 2026.
She was a devoted mother, mamaw, sister, and friend whose greatest joy was her family. She was born on June 20, 1933, in Battletown, KY, the daughter of the late Gertrude and Rosco Smith. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Greer; grandson, Neal Allen; great granddaughter, Faith Graham, son-in-law, Jerry Allen; brothers, Adrian Smith, Ray Smith, Earl Smith; and sisters, Lula Bell Smith, Sue Hall, and Maureen Woods.
For many years she faithfully served the children of Meade County as both a school bus driver and a cook. She loved the children she cared for and made a lasting impact on countless lives.
She was known for her delicious oatmeal cakes, peanut butter fudge, flapjacks and coconut cream pies, which were especially loved by her sons-in-laws. She enjoyed dancing, cherished her Monday gatherings with her friends, and proudly maintained her KOPS recognition for more than 24 years.
She was a member of Cold Spring Baptist Church and loved her church family. Above all she loved Jesus. Her unwavering faith guided her throughout her life and brought comfort to those around her.
She is survived by her six children, Bobbie Allen, Monnie Greer, Connie (Chuck) Metcalfe, Michael Greer, Donna Ford, Diana (Mike) Compton. Nine grandkids, Brian Metcalfe, Greg Metcalfe, Jason Allen, Travis Metcalfe, Amber Walther, Laci Caringer, Tyson Ford, Cory Compton, Jordan Compton; 24 great grandkids, with one on the way, 2 great great grandkids, one sister, Christy Smith and several Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation will be held at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 1:00P.M.-8:00P.M. EDT. and continue Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 9:00A.M.-11:00A.M. EDT.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, beginning at 11:00A.M. EDT. Burial will follow in Cap Anderson Cemetery.
