Three juveniles on theft spree in Brandenburg apprehended

According to the Brandenburg Police Department (BPD), on Friday, August 1, BPD requested that Meade County E-911 issue a code red for a 1 mile radius from Lafayette Street in Brandenburg part of an investigation. This was to be on the lookout for 2-3 individuals walking in the area.


Upon further investigation of an accident on Lafayette Street. The occupants in the wrecked vehicle fled the scene, it was discovered that the car involved was stolen out of Hardin County. Brandenburg Police were not successful in locating the individuals.


On the morning of August 2, 2025, Officer House was dispatched to 131 Broadway Street on stolen vehicle report. Around 2 pm, Officer Sawicki spotted the stolen vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on the Bypass near Broadway Street. The operator of the vehicle fled on foot from the traffic stop and was apprehended near the storage units on Shannon Lane. Operator of the vehicle was a juvenile.


Through investigation, there were two other juveniles involved and all three were in the vehicle that crashed on Lafayette street. These same juveniles on Friday night went on a theft spree in the city limits of Brandenburg. They went through several vehicles that were unlocked. All juvenile were arrested and will be going before a judge in juvenile court.
