Thomas Lee Woods was born, July 26, 1974, to the late Jimmie Woods and Maureen Smith Woods.  He passed away August 15, 2025, at the young age of 51 at the University of Louisville Hospital, due to complications of a hemorrhaging stroke which caused a significant brain bleed he couldn’t recover from which had him on life support from August 1 till the 15th.

He grew up in Payneville, Meade County, KY.  Tommy was a jack of all trades. He could do anything from building a house to anything mechanical.  If you could think of something he could find a way to build it.

Thomas “Tommy” was preceded in death by his mother, Maureen Smith Woods; father, Jimmie Woods; brothers, Jerry Jug Smith and James Ray Woods; and sister, Theresa Lynn Woods.

He is survived by his brothers, Timothy “Woody” (Ashley Smith) Woods and Billy Joe Woods; sisters, Wanda (Stacey McCubbins) Stewart and Monica Acob; son, Brett Lee Woods; grandson, Coleson Woods.

Tommy left this world as a hero, by being an organ donor.  Even though he couldn’t recover from his illness, and lost that battle, 2 families were saved that dreadful morning because of him donating his organs.  He was always willing to help anyone out.  He would be happy knowing that on his final day he was able to give life to two other families.  Tommy was always there to help anyone and would give the shirt off his back to anyone and a lot of times, he never wanted anything in return.  To his family he was one of a kind, he enjoyed his family and loved them dearly.  The night before all this happened, he spent it helping his brother.  His brother was by his side every night until the end, they were best friends, that’s a bond that can never be broken.  Tommy is now reunited with his parents and siblings.  Although he is gone, he will always be remembered as a hero.
