Steven Randolph "Catfish" Smith, Jr.

Mr. Steven Randolph “Catfish” Smith, Jr., age 19, of Guston, KY, gained his wings on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from injuries sustained from a motor vehicle accident. Steven was born on September 10, 2007, the son of Steven Randolph Smith, Sr. and Patricia Marie (Mullins) Smith.

Steven lived a very active life. He played football from youth up to middle school. His true passion belonged to the great outdoors. Steven loved to duck and deer hunt, fish and work on the family farm. Most of all, Steven loved his family. He was known for walking through the front door of his sister, Haylea’s house, rummaging through the kitchen looking for snacks and his favorite, colby cheese and sitting on the couch with TikTok on max volume.

Steven was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thomas Mullins; his mamaw at the farm, Mary (Ernest) Poole; his great grandparents, Doris and Snake Smith; and his two uncles, Lane Lindsey and Big Bubba (Johnny Thompson). He is survived by his father, Steven Randolph Smith, Sr.; his mother, Patricia Marie Smith (Shawn Taylor); his sister, Haylea Nicole Smith (Brian Hayes); his brother, John Thomas “John John” Taylor; his grandparents, Dennis “Bo Bo” Poole, Linda and Daniel Benoit and Debra Mullins (Thomas Mullins); his niece, Oaklynn “Oakie Butt” Hayes; his two special uncles, Dennis “Unk” (Amber) Poole, Jr. and Michael “Uncle Mike” Payton; his uncle, David (Rebecca) Smith; his aunt, Cathi Mullins (Brent Brown); his cousins, Jayla Poole, Jeze Poole, Chad Poole, Starla Poole (Issac Singleton), and Michael “Dew Bug” (Hailey); his special hunting buddy, JP; and many other loved family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the chapel of Hager Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Steven’s family has requested that anyone who attends the funeral service to please wear camo. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the funeral home to aid the family with expenses.
