Sarah C. “Bonnie” Eckart Brown, 90, of Corydon, departed this life on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Harrison Springs Health Campus in Corydon. She was born April 28, 1933, in Central, Indiana, to the late Straude and Myrtle McKim Eckart.
Bonnie worked at the Corydon Elementary School as a cook for over 20 years and loved working with the children. Her relationship with God and her church were the top priorities of her life. She served as a Sunday school teacher and spent time inviting and transporting people to church. She last attended Zoar Community Church near Corydon. Many home baked goodies were prepared for the sick, funeral dinners or any time food was needed for an event. Numerous evangelists and people were entertained and fed at her table. Her home was always open for fellowship and good food.
Her life was a witness of her faith even in her final days as she shared her testimony with other residents and staff. One of her most remembered quotes was “I don’t know what people do without the Lord in their lives”.
The family will forever be grateful for the privilege to have her as our mother and Christian example. The family wants to express our sincere gratitude for the exceptional care of Harrison Springs Health Campus staff and the Gentiva Hospice team.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Gerald F. “Jack” Brown; her brothers, Kelso, Estel, Creston and Bobby Eckart; and her sisters, Annis Stevens and Pearly Faye Eckart.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Marquita Windell (Kenneth) and Yvonne Walker (Rodger) both of Corydon; her son, Lee Brown (Dawn) of Corydon; her grandchildren, Josiah Windell (Laura), Quinton Windell (Rachel), Sarah Windell, Aaron Walker (Jami), Priscilla Knight (Brandon), Hannah Helm (Brad), and Chelsea Henderson (Luke Lizenby); and her great grandchildren, Jacob, Seth and Brooklyn Walker, Lydia and Isaiah Windell, and Esther and Titus Knight.
