Pedro Antonio Guardiola-Declet

Pedro Antonio Guardiola-Declet, age 74, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville, KY, with his loving family by his side.

He was born on July 23, 1949 in Puerto Rico, son of Carmen Declet Santiago and the late Pedro Antonio Guardiola, Sr. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Jean Staples; stepfather, Zoa Rodriguez; granddaughter, Courtney Brooke Horsley; mother-in-law, Lorene Whitworth and brothers-in law, Billy Staples and Teddy Bailey.

Pedro was a veteran of the Army, where he proudly served as a rifle marksman and sharpshooter. After his time in the military, he worked as a butcher at Kroger for many years and then as a Supervisor for Koch Corporation until his retirement. While he was very tough, Pedro was also a kind, patient, and loving man. His family was his pride and joy, and he was dedicated to them in every way. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Wendy (Tony) Horsley and Heather (Skip Lane) Metcalf; step-daughter, Kendra Crosier; mother, Carmen Declet Santiago; granddaughter, Courtni Jean (Zach Taylor) Metcalf; step-granddaughter, Iva True Crosier; sister, Carmen Ester “Pitita” (Nestor Canales Cruz) Guardiola-Declet; sister-in-law, Anita Bailey and Tammy Staples; brother-in laws, Danny Staples (Craig Hinton) and Kenny (Donna)Staples; many nieces and nephews; special friend Marissa Endicott and many, many friends and loved ones

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 12:00-8:00 P.M. at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home in Brandenburg, KY. A Prayer Service being led by Brenda Gail will begin at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM at St. Mary Magdalen of Pazzi Church in Payneville, KY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 12:00 PM EST at the church with burial to follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donation to the Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses.
