Nelson Board

Nelson Board, age 96, of Irvington, KY, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at his home.

He was born on October 8, 1928, in Irvington, son of the late Homer Board and Rea Ramsey Board. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn Belle Stith Board; and two sons, Ricky and David Board.

Nelson worked as a farmer and loved every moment that he got to spend outside tending to his land and animals. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and faithfully attended Bewleyville Methodist Church. He had a wonderful way with words and was an excellent storyteller. He shared tons of stories that will be passed down for many years to come, but his favorites were those that included his late wife, Carolyn. Nelson had a great sense of humor, he loved people, and he never met a stranger. He was kind, generous, and devoted to his family, and he will be dearly missed by all who came to know him.

He is survived by his children, Jerry Eugene (Sharon Nix) Board, Ron (Donna) Board, and Gary (Sharon Ledford) Board; daughter-in-law, Ruth Board; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Alexander Funeral Home on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 4-8:00 P.M. EDT and will continue Friday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. EDT with Bro. Carlie Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.
