Meade County Green Waves and Lady Waves roll on to the 3rd Region Baseball and Softball Semifinals

The 3rd Region Baseball tournament kicked off Monday at Trinity Whitesville. In the opening round, the 11th District Runner-Up Meade County Green Waves defeated Grayson County by a score of 4 to 0. Aiden Bratcher picked up the win, pitching five shutout innings with 8 strikeouts. Bratcher also went 2 for 4 at the plate with a triple and RBI. Lucas Hail also went 2 for 4 at the plate with a homerun, double and RBI. The Green Wave face Owensboro in the 3rd Region semifinals. In other action, the Breckinridge County Tigers kicked off the first round game with a 7 to 3 win against Edmonson County. The Tigers will take on Owensboro Catholic in the other Regional Semifinal game. Breckinridge County defeated Meade County in the 11th District Championship by a score of 2 to 1 last week and could potentially have a rematch in the Region Championship if both teams win.

In softball news, the 11th District Champion Meade County Lady Waves kicked off the 3rd Region softball tournament at Meade Olin Park with a 10-0 win over Butler County. Veronica Roberts picked up the win with five shutout innings and 9 strikeouts. Kennedy Ledford went 2 for 3 at the plate with a triple and 2 RBIs. Her sister Kaelyn Ledford went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. Kendall Buchanan added 2 more RBIs going 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 stolen bases. The Lady Waves will face Daviess County in the Regional semifinals.
