LTC (Ret.) Richard Edward Douglass, Jr

LTC (Ret.) Richard Edward Douglass, Jr., age 66, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, at his residence.  Richard was born on November 9, 1959, the son of Richard Edward, Sr. and Charlotte Foley Douglass.   He was Catholic by faith.  LTC Douglass proudly served his country in the United States Army retiring in 2008 after 26 years of service.  He was deployed all over the world including posts in Southeast Asia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kosovo and led brigades in Gulf war and Iraq war.


Richard was preceded in death by his father; and his first wife, Ilyn Douglass.  He is survived by his wife, Daisy Douglass; his son, Jack Douglass; his sister, Elizabeth Douglass Candela and her husband, Vincent; his brother, John Murphy; three nieces, Vicky Powers and her husband, Ralph, Mary and Beth Murphy; two nephews, Joseph Candela and his wife, Celeste and Kyle Candela; and several great nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Deacon Greg Beavin officiating.  Burial, with full military honors, will follow at 12:30 PM at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY.  Visitation will be held on Sunday from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM and on Monday, from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
