Linda Lou Briggs, age 80 of Brandenburg, KY passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in Elizabethtown, KY.
She was born on November 27, 1945, in Galesburg, IL, daughter of the late Marjorie Helen Clemons Lashbrook Sholl. Along with her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Glen “Bill” Briggs; step-father, Bud Sholl; sister, Sandy Scannell; and brother, Terry Lashbrook.
Linda was a 1963 graduate of Galesburg Senior High School. She met her husband, Bill Briggs, when she was working at the draft board. She and Bill built their dream home, a log home, in Doe Valley, where they lived for about 10 years before moving to Rio Grande Valley, TX. Bill laid the foundation of the house with the help of family and friends, but Linda truly made it a home. They lived in many states including IL, TX, KY, and the military even took them to Germany. Linda was a crafter who enjoyed creating things. She created quilts, cavalry patch kids, blankets, and donated many, many scarves and hats to newborn babies and children in need. Linda was a member of Brandenburg United Methodist Church and Bethel Methodist Church when she lived in KY. She loved dancing and sang in many church choirs for many years. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She and her husband loved to travel, visiting her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. They worked as camp hosts contracting with the US Army Corps of Engineers and enjoyed running Karaoke in the camps. She was a creative, fun person who had a big heart, and was loved by many.
She is survived by her children, Cindy (Matt) Comins, Rich (Amanda) Cadwell, and Will (Sara) Briggs; grandchildren, Allie (Jackie) Comins, Greg (Danielle) Comins, Aaron (Sydney) Cadwell, Corey (Ashten) Cadwell, Mary Caite (Connor) Aubrey, Esther (Hunter) Drinkard, Jonathon Wiseman, Christopher Cadwell, and Dimitar Briggs; great-grandchildren, Addisyn, Avyn, Maddie, Noah, Everly, Carson, Beckett; sister, Colleen McPherrin; brother, Larry Lashbrook; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A graveside service will be held at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, in Radcliff, KY on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 1:30 P.M. with Will Briggs officiating.
