Linda Joyce Murphy

Linda Joyce Riggs Murphy, age 75, Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 28, 1950, in Battletown, KY, daughter of the late Ila Mae Bennett Riggs and Charles Lester Riggs. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Steven Wayne Murphy; brother, Roger Riggs; sister, Audrey Carlton; and infant son, Joey Benham.

Linda was the proud owner of Sassy’s Secret Consignment and Owner Operator of Murphy Trucking, as well as the caretaker for Rock Haven Baptist Church Cemetery. She had multiple talents and was skilled at a variety of work, including truck driving, entrepreneurship, and working with her hands, which inevitably led to her career at Bussman’s Fuse Company. In her downtime, Linda enjoyed doing yardwork and caring for her flowers. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who came to know her.

She is survived by her two sons, Kelly (Sam) Benham and Troy (Maria) Benham; bonus son, Eric Murphy; two grandchildren, Taylor (Annmarie) Benham and Tanner (Jessica) Benham; two great-grandchildren, Harlan and Mason Benham; four sisters, Kathy (Mike) Beard, Karen (Justin) Morgan, Vanessa (David) Wright, and Covanna (Tim) Haley; two brothers, Leslie Riggs and Charles (Tracey) Chism; a special friend, Danny Gill; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be held at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 4-7:00 P.M. and after 10:00 A.M. on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. with burial to follow in Rock Haven Baptist Church Cemetery next to her husband, Steven Wayne Murphy.
