Joseph Lawson

Mr. Joseph “Joe” Lawson, age 88, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, KY. Joe was born on April 10, 1936, the son of William “Bill” and Nannie Louise (Wardrip) Lawson.

Joe worked for the Brandenburg Telephone Company for 43 years before retiring. You would see him many times hanging on the side of a telephone pole working on the lines. Joe was a UofL fan, sometimes he would watch UK, but UofL was his team. He also was a true hunter of deer, turkey, geese and ducks. He also loved to fish. One of Joe’s favorite things to do was ride on his John Deere lawn mower and mow grass. It gave him much joy and peace.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joseph Wayne Lawson; four brothers, Buck, Bob, Donny and Dick Lawson; and two sisters, Mary Dowell and Birdie Shellman. He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Lou (Norton) Lawson; his daughter, Cora Ann (Donnie) Williams; his son, Fred (Robin Yocum) Lawson; and his grandson, Billy Joe Williams.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the chapel of Hager Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday and from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
